The "BEST" Start - Everquest Legends

The case for starting Iksar: every guild master, every caster and hybrid spell vendor, the bank and the mote trader in one hub, opening onto North Ro with ports to Hate and Sky either side of you.

Episode6

An argument rather than a walkthrough, and the argument is that Iksar is the best start in the game. Not for the race, but for the real estate: every guild master at the spawn point, every caster and hybrid spell vendor two rooms away, a bank and a mote trader in between, and a door that opens onto North Ro with ports to Hate one way and Sky the other. Non-Iksar can buy their way in for a couple of hundred platinum.

Everything in One Building

The actual case.

  • You spawn beside every Iksar guild master. Hand in your note and you are away with no walking at all.
  • Left fork: tailoring, smithing and fletching supplies, an adventuring merchant and the banker.
  • Past them, one room holds every caster's spells: Wizard, Enchanter, Cleric, Magician, Necromancer, Druid and Shaman.
  • Straight on instead: the hybrids, so Ranger, Paladin, Shadowknight, Beastlord and Bard, plus the mote trader who swaps two motes for a better one.
  • A blocked door hints at more, with an NPC standing by it who has nothing to say yet.

It functions as a hub. Ogres and dark elves turn up here too, because the convenience is worth the trip even for races that did not start here.

The Location Is Half of It

What is outside the door.

  • You come out into North Ro.
  • South to the Oasis puts you at the tower that ports to Plane of Hate.
  • North to East Freeport puts you at the click to Plane of Sky.
  • Straight across is the tunnel to East Commonlands.
  • A Wizard in your loadout ports directly here, which makes it a genuine base rather than just a starting point.

Joining Without Being Iksar

Cheap, and worth it for the vendors alone.

  • Most races start dubious with the expedition faction that runs the zone.
  • Hail the crusader outside and ask about supplies. He takes metal bits and high quality ore.
  • A hundred to two hundred platinum of materials is enough to reach indifferent and use the place.
  • Push it further and it becomes the Iksar race unlock, which is the same NPC and the same turn in.

Levels One to Five

Do not go far.

  • Head toward the East Freeport zone line and stop before you reach it.
  • Armadillos, fire beetles, snakes and spiders all sit at level two or three and are the right first targets.
  • Stand in one spot and pull. That is the whole method; the spawns come to you.
  • Cane skeletons are viable too and start your bone chip supply early, which you will want later.
  • Avoid the pumas at first. They are level five and too much at one.
  • Raise the pick difficulty once it is easy. The same mobs at pick four kill just as readily and pay better.

Mind the Freeport guards. They con threatening early on. The Deathfist sash turn ins are the usual way to fix that if you want to hunt closer to the city.

The Iksar Start at a Glance

  1. Start Iksar and hand your note to the guild master beside you.
  2. Take the left fork for trade supplies, the adventuring merchant and the bank.
  3. Carry on for every caster spell in a single room.
  4. Take the other fork for hybrid spells and the mote trader.
  5. Step outside into North Ro.
  6. Kill armadillos and beetles near the East Freeport line to level five.
  7. Raise the pick difficulty once they stop being a threat.
  8. Not an Iksar? Buy in with metal bits and ore for a couple of hundred platinum.

Hello and welcome to EverQuest Legends pre-order beta. Today we’re going to talk about what I think is the best start in the game. All right, so my character here is level 41, but we’re going to play like this is how we start, right? Um iksar is to me the best the best starting race, right? So if you start here at level one, you’re going to spawn in this hallway right here. I think right where this guy here is, Rab. Right where he’s spawning is the origin point. And look what you got. You got all your guild masters right here for all the iksar related things. You grab your note, you hand it in, and you’re off, right? You’re you’re good to go. You don’t have to worry about anything. So if you come down this hall straight ahead, now you got two turns. You got to turn here to the left or you can go straight. We’re going to go left first. You see here we got tailoring supplies, smithing supplies, fletching supplies. We got an adventuring guy right here with a you know, a nice little assortment of things you can buy, right? Most of this is just people selling stuff to him, but it is what it is. They got the banker right here conveniently, and you can you know, get your banked items. And then if you come through into the next room right here, you have all the spells for casters, right? Wizard, enchanter, cleric, magician, necromancer, druid, and shaman, all in one room for your convenience, right? Now, if we come back out here and go back down this way, and now that was the left fork. Now if we go straight, we get into the other songs, right? We got all the other uh ranger, paladin, shadow knight, beast lord, bard, all the hybrid classes right here, along with the uh moat trader right there. You can trade him in two moats and he’ll give you a a better moat. Uh and then we have uh Crusader Gales, which I believe he’s going to be a quest because this door is obviously blocked off. And from what I understand, there’s a you know, like a newbie area being built in that area, right? Uh or something to that effect. If we hail this guy, doesn’t say anything yet, but uh I expect that to be something cool. So, we have this zone. Custom made uh with all the conveniences or you can see here, we we are it’s a core It’s almost like a hub. You can see all the other different races coming here. There’s an ogre, there’s a dark elf. Most people will start at dubious to the new Civil Lissian expedition faction, which is the the name of the zone, right? The new Civil Lissian uh Civil Liss expedition. New Civil Liss. All right, new Civil Liss. All right, they sort shortened it, I guess. Um so, it is very um a very convenient to anybody who wants to come here, right? Um you start dubious and whatnot. Now, okay, so we’re level one, let’s say, right? We just did the tutorial. You might be level two. Now, you don’t have any money to go do any of that, but if you come out this door right here, right? I’m going to show you what I did to get to level four, level five really, really quick. Um and I say quick like it’s, you know, relative. It’s [laughter] all relative, right? Uh but you come out here, you’re in North Ro, right? North Ro is a fantastic start because why? Uh if you go south to Oasis, you can go to Plane of Hate in uh the tower there and click up. If you uh go north to East Freeport, you can click to Plane of Sky right there, right? This is This is con- convenience. All right, across the zone here is um uh East Commons, so you go into the tunnel right over there. Uh now, if you are you have a wizard in your loadout, you can teleport right there. Uh and it’s very convenient. In all honesty, it’s very convenient. Now, let’s say you’re not an iksar, but you want to take part in the iksar society. You want to become a member. You talk to this guy right here. Hail him. Hail yourself, iksar. Got multiple ships and worth of people to watch over. I could use some supplies, right? You talk to him. Hit supplies. He wants metal bits and he wants better ores, uh high-quality ores and stuff like that. Boom. Uh for less than I think I think it’s like 100, maybe 200 platinum, you can make enough metal bits to get at least in different factions, so you can you can take part in the services provided by the great iksar and people. Praise Stoal. Praise Stoal. Uh and there’s a vendor out here you can sell to if you are so inclined. All right, so that is just a little segue there. Now, what I did when I started, right? Now, I started I kind of went like this and I was just walking around. And you can see there’s not a whole lot of mobs, but then you start seeing there’s like these cats, right? Pumas, they’re like level five, right? It’s a little too high. So, I started just going up this way. The cane skeleton, that’s a viable option for for killing, right? Schwack those guys down, get your bone chips early. But the real gem is right up here by the East Freeport zone line. Now, you can zone over to East Freeport and you can kill there if you want. But I I found with this build shaman shadow knight, um I did not have any problem right here. So, I came uh it was like about right about here. And I just like stood in one spot, right? See these armadillos level two. It was pretty much just like cast my life tap spell, pull it over, kill it. And then uh you know, just do the same thing over and over again, right? Easy mobs, right? Just go with that fire beetles. Everything that spawns here, snakes, s- you know, spiders. They’re all like two or three, right? So, they’re all pretty easy. The first like it might be a little rough at level one, so you know, make sure you get level two in the tutorial. Uh but just everything in this little area right here is like premium easy stuff to kill. Uh now, if you want to level it up a little bit, you can go uh to you know, pick difficulty, right? And then you can uh right here, you can pick in the pick four. And you should be able to kill these same mobs without any problem. Now, you can do the same thing over here in the East Freeport zone. Uh right here, as long as you stay. The guards are not going to like you. Uh when you start like the guards, they’re right here. There’s some guards right here. You’re threatening to them. So, maybe a little less than threatening. I mean, maybe I killed some stuff to get a little faction. Uh so, you you might want to you know, think about that. Just stay away from it. Now, if you want to get faction with the guards, I believe there is a Deathfists uh sash quest you can do by killing the orcs to get a little belt, turn it in, and so on and so on. I believe that works. There might be another way, but uh for the most part, I didn’t really uh I didn’t really don’t even care to have their faction. Uh and there’s a vendor right here if your bags get full and you didn’t you’re not using the auto sell, right? So, definitely this got me to level five, right? This was uh this was pretty easy. A level five start uh level I think level four-ish, my friend Aelid. Uh I got a party him, summoned him here, and we we finished it up and got to level five and went to Befallen. So, uh definitely uh uh a good little spot right here. Like this is this is the it’s it’s within seconds of, you know, walking from the uh the zone in of the uh the XR people. Now, I I’m personally going to go XR. Uh this is going to be what my path is going to be on launch day. So, I you know, it’s going to be it’s going to be pretty easy. Uh and then I plan to go straight to Befallen. Um and I plan on staying in Befallen until uh I get to you know get what [laughter] I need. Obviously, uh you can stay in Befallen until about 25. Now, Befallen easy access. You go to East Commons, you go south to West Commons. Boom, you’re right there at the Befallen zone line in a few seconds of work. So, definitely uh definitely something there. Now, one other option you have uh something you know, you have many options, right? You can go um I wish there I wish there was a a way to go to the Atlas, right? So, you can go East Commons and then over into Neriak Forest and then Neriak Forest to Lavastorm. Which would be like right about here. And then Lavastorm to uh Najena and that’ll get you there. Let me Let me see if I can get my There we go. Perfect. Uh the I think the Atlas here. Anathetica There’s a map. All right, perfect. This is this is perfect. So, uh right here. We’re a new Sibilis expedition, right? This is right about where we’re standing. So, you can go East Commons, West Commons, Befallen, like I said, or you can go East Commons, Nektulos Forest, Najena, right? And well, Lavastorm Najena. This is not as flowing as It’s not as flowing as you’d like, but uh for the most part, It you there. Now, Najena, you could probably do it about level 10. I recommend Befallen at five. I recommend Befallen at five. Do it level one. And uh level up there. Now, alternatively, we haven’t I haven’t gone and done it yet, but they just redid uh Crushbone as a a um level, I think, four to 20 zone. So, that might be an option. We’re going to We’re going to take that at level five there or level 10. 10 there. That’s as low as I can go uh here in a minute and uh do that. But, uh you know, that is, you know, so you’re going to need invisibility as an iksar to get through uh Freeport. So, you might have to uh buy a potion um just depends on your class when you get invisibility. But, uh it you’re going to have a hard time getting through Freeport without invisibility at low levels. Uh you’re going to take the translocator to Ocean of Tears and then Ocean of Tears to Butcherblock and then Butcherblock to uh Greater Faydark. And then Greater Faydark to Crushbone will get you there. And then while you’re over in this area, you can also hit up Estate of Unrest, Mistmoore, Dragoon’s Cauldron to get to Kedge and stuff like that. Now, Kedge apparently has the best experience in the the in the game. We’re going to take a look at that here uh later today, but uh definitely uh an option there. Uh but, that is that is kind of, you know, like this the best start I can think of right now um as of today. [clears throat] Uh now, there might be some new dungeon revamps that come out. Like, they might revamp Upper Guk, which might make it a little bit more attractive. They might um um you know, do Unrest, make it a little bit more attractive. Uh they might, you know, Permafrost they said they were they said they were going to do it as a high-level one, so I’m not sure on that one, but Najena and Befallen, those are going to be your really good ones. Now, I do recommend going to Blackburrow if you are an ogre because you’re going to want to get this refugee sh- refugee shroud which has the shrink clicky, right? Uh I recommend that, but Iksar start to me is the best. Now, why is Iksar the best race? Because um it is very simple. >> [laughter] >> It is absolutely very simple. The everything that the ogre gives you is replaced by this AA, right? Steadfast Will. So, once you have all, you know, eight ranks of Steadfast Will you are immune to stuns from melee attacks, right? So, you can, you know, buy that and you’re gaining nothing from being an ogre except for being large, right? Now, ogres do start with more stats. I’m not going to lie. You’re going to have like, you know, I’ll say 30 more strength, stamina and uh you’re going to have like no wisdom, right? So, depending on your build, it might be more beneficial to stay an ogre and be an ogre for that kind of stuff but I don’t see the point because Iksar get innate regen uh innate regen and innate AC. That AC, you know, takes you over the caps, gives you makes Iksar the best AC tanks, right? Right? They’re going to have the highest AC. It also uh gives them you know, some of the highest HP regen. So, if you’re playing a necromancer, like I have Call of Bones and I’m I’m not even losing >> [laughter] >> I don’t have negative health regen right now. I don’t even have Chloroplast on, right? Like if I put Chloroplast on There we go. I’m at 15 health regen. Now, if I had a Rubicite breastplate, I can get that up another, I think, 10 and I’m I’m I’m like free to like this goes all the way up to lich, too, right? When I get lich, which is the higher level necromancer uh cannibalizing thing, it will, you know, just keep me alive at all pretty much all times and I’ll never die from being in lich form and I’ll get that mana regen for free. So, those are the benefits of being, you know, an iksar plus, you know, you’re scaly and uh look at me, I’m dead sexy in my multicolored leather and uh ch- chainer plate, whatever that is. Uh definitely uh an option there, but you know, it’s to me this is the best start. You have access to everything you need um there. Now, you you like you can see here there’s a halfling here, right? Like everybody comes here because it’s the best place to get spells. You don’t have to run around to all the different vendors. If you’re a druid, you don’t have to mess around going to different druid rings to find spells. You just go to one spot. It’s a nice little hub. I think I think a lot of players are going to be making it their home because it’s so easy to do with metal bits, right? Everybody’s going to be able to come here. Uh and if you max out your faction, you unlock the iksar race and then you can become, you know, the true the true race of Norrath, right? Uh so, it’s definitely uh definitely fun. So, to recap, this area right here is really nice to get to level, you know, between 1 and 4 really quick. Uh and then you can go straight to Befallen and do the zone into Befallen, you know, in D0D1. I recommend D0 until you uh get a few items to be able to go to the next tier. And so on and so on. And uh we’re going to talk more and more about the different uh you know, places to go level as I unfold my full plan, uh what I plan to do leveling and playing on the retail version of the game. But uh we got we’re going to two more zones to test out before we uh lock it all in and uh lock it all out. But, uh uh that is that. That is That is the easy start in EverQuest Legends, the iksar start. Now, you can start as any class, any race you want. You still come here, give them some metal bits, and enjoy the the the services that are provided by the greatest race in all of Norrath. But, uh thank you very much for watching. And if you have any questions or comments, please leave those down below. If you like my con- content, like it, subscribe, and you know, say hi. You know, pop on Discord. I mean, I got a Discord. I talk to a lot of people on Discord. Uh it’s much easier to talk to people on Discord via than YouTube comments because I don’t see the second comment. Like, if you If I reply to you and you reply to me, I don’t see that unless I log into the website on uh my computer and change filters around. By default, it doesn’t show me new notifications for some reason. Two replies to my reply. Uh and I don’t see those on my phone and stuff like that without a lot of little switching around things. So, um you know, Discord’s the best. There’s a whole bunch of people that are fans of EverQuest in the Discord, and they’ll If I can’t help you, they’ll help you, too. Uh but, that’s that. So, thank you very much for watching, and please have a fantastic day.
