How I Play My Level 80 Enchanter

A walkthrough of my level 80 EverQuest Enchanter set up as a boxed ADPS provider. Covers debuffs, the DoT-heavy nuke rotation, the rune buff stack, group runes, defensive cooldowns, and the choice to skip charming entirely in a multibox setup.

A level 80 Enchanter built as a boxed ADPS provider. Tash debuffs, slow, group runes, and a DoT-heavy nuke rotation. Skip charming entirely in a multibox setup. The full ADPS power comes online at 130, but the foundation is here.

ADPS provider Group rune support No charming
Multichromatic Assault2,100 chromatic nuke
Mind Oscillate1,200 DoT + mana steal
Rune of the Deep~4,000 group damage shield

Session Overview

Why no charming, no mezzing.

  • Role: ADPS provider, debuffer, rune support. Eventually the centerpiece of late-game synergy at 130.
  • No charming: Pet breaks every 1 to 6 minutes randomly. Not worth the complexity in a 6-box where the Mages and Wizard already crush damage.
  • No mezzing: Warriors, Paladins, and Shadow Knights all do AoE. They break mezzes, so just kill faster.
  • When to charm: Solo from level 12 to 65. After that, the cost-benefit doesn't pencil out for boxes.

Debuff Stack

Set up the target before the rotation fires.

  • Den of Tashan: Current Tash line. Lowers magic resistance and increases chromatic spell damage. Critical for the Enchanter's chromatic nukes. Cast on every mob.
  • Desolate Deeds: Level 69 slow. Still the best option at 80, no upgrade until the SoD heroic tier (81 to 82), with an AA version at 90.
  • Color Cataclysm: Point-blank AOE stun for filler. Only fires if everything else is on cooldown.

Nuke Rotation

The DoT-heavy multibind.

  • Mind Oscillate: 1,200 damage 30s DoT with mana steal. First in the multibind. 10s reuse means it constantly refreshes.
  • Mana Resurgence: Self-buff aura. Every nuke you cast has a 10% chance to trigger an additional mana incursion strike for bonus damage. 30s reuse, fires in the multibind.
  • Multichromatic Assault: 2,100 chromatic nuke. Main damage spell. Hits harder when Tashan is on the target.
  • Strangling Air: Instant cast nuke + DoT. ~830 initial, occasional 5,000+ crits.
  • Color Cataclysm: Filler stun (rarely fires in normal rotations).

Two DoTs running: With Mind Oscillate and Strangling Air both ticking, the Enchanter contributes consistent damage between nukes. A notable jump from a pure nuker rotation.

Group Runes & Buffs

The reason to bring an Enchanter even at low levels.

  • Rune of the Deep: Group rune. Costs 2 Peridots per cast, gives everyone ~4,000 damage shield. Cast it during every buff rotation.
  • Multichromatic Rune: 2,000 self-rune that does damage when broken (similar to the Ethereal Rune line).
  • Voice of Cognizance: Current clarity line. Keep up at all times.
  • Hastening of Erradien: Current haste, group buff.
  • Mystifier's Aura: Mana regen aura for the group. Helps the Druid and other casters keep mana topped up.
  • Orator's Unity: Current Unity AA. Casts ward + armor shield buff in one click.
  • Improved Familiar: Stat and damage buff. Always on.

Defensive Cooldowns

The Enchanter's escape valves.

  • Friendly Stasis: Pulls a friendly target out of combat into stasis. Saved my Wizard and Druid more than once.
  • Self Stasis: Same trick on yourself. Separate timer from Friendly Stasis.
  • Veil of the Mind Shadow: Melee absorption increase.
  • Mind Over Matter: Convert melee damage into mana drain instead of HP damage.
  • Doppelganger: Aggro dump via illusion summons.
  • Group Perfected Invisibility: Available at 76. Group-wide standard invis for navigation.

Class advantage: Enchanters get evader's stasis at level 80, five levels earlier than every other class. Use it.

Mana & Crystals

Sustain for casters.

  • Azure Mind Crystal (AA): Restore 2,000 mana. Create stacks at login and burn through them.
  • Sanguine Mind Crystal: Same idea, but restores HP.
  • Gather Mana: 20,000 mana restore, 1-hour reuse. Emergency button.
  • Elder Drune: 5,600 instant rune. Doesn't stack with Multichromatic but useful as a top-up.

Burn Sequence (Limited at 80)

The Enchanter's burns aren't online yet.

  • Silent Casting: Lowers aggro on all spells cast.
  • Doppelganger: Aggro dump via illusions.
  • Companion's Fortification: Defensive cooldown. Survives the burn.
  • Arcane Whisper: Targeted hate dump.

Coming later: The real ADPS burn buttons (Chromatic Haze, Aura Mastery, etc.) come online at higher levels. At 80 you're mostly providing passive support.

Gear Progression at 80

The Enchanter's gear matters less than the tank's.

  • Elegant Defiant: Bare minimum baseline.
  • Paragon Silk (Seeds of Destruction): Best path if you're investing time. Equivalent to House of Thule tier 1.
  • House of Thule Tier 1: Fear Itself zone. Names are practically permanently up. Doable solo with mercenary.
  • Marks of Valor merchant: Buy SoD and HoT tier 4 gear from the Call of the Forsaken merchant in Ethernere: West Karana.
  • Skip Underfoot: Not worth the time. Characters die instantly without proper gear.

Hotbar & Multibind

One-button play.

  • Spam button (5): Mind Oscillate → Mana Resurgence → Multichromatic Assault → Strangling Air → Color Cataclysm.
  • Assist button: X target 19, bound to the main tank's target.
  • Rune button: X target 20, group buff including Rune of the Deep + Multichromatic Rune on self.
  • Mez buttons (7/8/9): X target 7/8/9 → Mystify → Quelling Wave (targeted AOE mez).
  • Friendly Stasis hotkeys: One-click hotkeys for the Wizard and Druid.

Quick Rotation Cheat Sheet

  1. Pre-pull: Voice of Cognizance, Hastening of Erradien, Mystifier's Aura.
  2. Buff round: Rune button (X target 20). Rune of the Deep on group, Multichromatic Rune on self.
  3. Engage: Spam 5. Mind Oscillate → Mana Resurgence → Multichromatic Assault → Strangling Air.
  4. Maintain: Two DoTs ticking, slow on tough mobs, Tash on every mob you fight.
  5. Anyone in trouble: Friendly Stasis them and let the Wizard or Druid evac the group.
  6. Emergency aggro: Doppelganger → Arcane Whisper.

Hello and welcome to how I play my level 80 enchanter. Today we’re going to talk about enchanting and all the fun stuff around that. Uh so uh now I play this as a boxed enchanter. I don’t uh I don’t waste my time mezzing. I don’t waste my time charming. I waste my time killing. And that is exactly how I play this character. So, this character is set up in the sense that it is an ADPS provider and it does some damage. Now, at level 80, we do not have everything we need to be the ADPS powerhouse that we will become at 130, but uh we have we have part of the part of the pieces. Now, let’s start off with spells. Uh first spell I got is uh den of Tashon uh which is our current level Tash, right? It’s a level 77. It doesn’t get upgraded until I think 81, I believe, or 80 uh 82 or 81. So, won’t see a new one for a while. Now, we are also running. So, like I guess I should explain this a little better. Uh Tash, we get it way early in the game. Uh I think it’s like level 14 or 24 or something like that. And uh we always use it. We always stays M for the rest of the game. Uh it lowers magical resistance and it lowers all right now it increases damage from chromatic spells which we we do damage with and clerics do damage with. So uh you want that on every mob you can but uh you know if you don’t you don’t but uh then we have slow. Now, as you can see here, I am using a level 69 slow, which uh we have not gotten an upgrade from yet, but in the 80 to 85, the House of Thieves of Destruction tier uh in the heroic characters, there is an upgrade and then there will be an AA. Uh where is it? Class Helix. Uh so, we’re here in Belby Helix. So, this is the same line at level 90, we will get the AA for it, right? So, uh, but in, uh, the level 85 range, we will get an upgrade which will, uh, I believe in include into it, which is our next spell here. Now, this lowers agility, dexterity, strength, and armor class for a little bit. It’s a nice little debuff, you know, to help out the tank. And then we have uh a few damage abilities, right? So, we got those two. I’m going to try to get them all. They’re not they’re not in perfect order right now. Uh, strangling air. Where’s the other one? Assault. What do we got here? D. We got this one. All right. So, I’m trying to just pull up what’s in the multiind. Right. All right. We got this color cataclysm at the end here, but that one is not going to work. All right. Which one is this one? Yeah, there we go. All right. So, we got Mind Oscillate. So, mind oscillate uh is a 1,200 damage dot that lasts 60 uh 30 seconds. I can’t read at all. Uh and also does a mana steal. So, this is very nice. Now, this is in my multi mine. This is the first thing in my multi mine. And you might be like, why? Uh if I cast it right now, right? So, it’s got a pretty long cast time. It’s got a 10-second reuse. So, optimal uh you know, optimal for a multivite. So, it’s a nice little spell there. Then we have multi- chromatic assault which is our current level nuke. If we cast that one, you can see there it’s a few second reuse, right? Uh does 2100 uh chromatic damage. So uh if we slow this guy, right? Or not slow. If we if we uh if we do our tash, right? So he did 227. Now if we cast it again, uh we should get a little bit more damage on that. 2283. So, you can see how it’s worth it to have. There you can see that m mind oscillate keeps going. So, it’s a 10-second reuse dot that just keeps ticking in the background. So, we’re going to get what uh every tick is 6 seconds, I think. Right. So, uh in theor in theory, we’re going to get two or three ticks for the cost of the spell. So, it’s not too bad really at the end of the day. All right. Then we have uh strangling air which uh is the next spell in the rotation multivine. Uh this is another dot but it initially does damage right. So if we click this now it has a no no reuse time on it. So it’s instantaneously back up. Uh and it is you know doing you know 828 on on hit. Right. Oh, looks like we got a 5,000 crit on uh Yeah, we got a 5,400 crit on there somehow. I don’t even know. Uh but we got some extra damage there. And then it uh does damage over time. So, we’re going to have two dots running on the mob pretty much at all times. Uh and then uh now this spell does not get cast like 999 100% of the time, right? This is just there just in case. This is a point blank AOE stun that will hit everything in the area, right? Uh if for some reason that it lands, uh it goes off. It it just gives me a filler, right? So that’s all it is for there. So, all right. So, that’s the rotation. It is uh mind oscillate. Oh, we didn’t talk about mana resurgence. I closed the window. All right. So, mana resurgence is another uh little debuff kind of thing, right? places an aura of recursive mana on my target. The mana will intertwine with the energy of a damaging spell, allowing the target to inflict additional damage via mana incursion strike. Right? So, this puts a proc on the target that every time we nuke it, there’s a 10% chance we’re going to get more damage. Now, if we cast this, right, it’s not going to land, right? Where or does it buff? No, it should buff him. I think he got resisted, right? I don’t even see it showing up anywhere, do I? Maybe it doesn’t work on combat dummies. I I’ve never really paid attention to it, but it’s a 30 secondond reuse. I put it on there and it’s it’s fine. Right now, I believe at this level um we did get some new auras, right? One of them being uh mana resurgence aura. Now, I did not switch from my current mana aura at the moment, but this would be probably where I’m going to go. at the next uh tier here, right? Because we’re going to be getting uh aura mastery, right? At 81, we’re going to be have two auras. So, I’m probably going to switch up my auras then. Uh but I have not done it yet. So, just a little side note there. Uh but that is my multi mine. So, uh, mind oscillate, resurgence, assault, air, and then if for somehow chance it lands, color cataclysm. All right, this is not too bad. Now, for the rest of the spells we have memorized, we have mystify, which is our current level me, uh, which is bound to my numpad 7 89 right here. So, me is, you know, my extended target seven, my extended target eight. Uh, and then we cast 12, which wi which is a um mesmerizing wave line, right? This is a quelling wave. Uh, somehow I got rank two from some of the mobs I was killing. But this uh is a point blank AOE. No, this sorry, this one’s a targeted AOE mez. So, it’ll theoretically mess anything up to level 83, including the caster. So, keep that in mind. Um, there is other alternatives you can use, right? Right. If we go down here, uh that’s just the one I’m using, but uh I don’t really use it too much since I just go in. You can do I think visions of Coranthus here. I think this is another version of the uh yeah, this one only does 6 seconds though, so it’s not as it’s not as good. So, you’re you’re going to your mileage will vary there. Uh next up, we have Rune of the Deep. This is a group rune. uh takes uh what two paradotss to cast, but gives everybody, you know, almost 4,000 damage shield. So, uh definitely nice to have. Uh I kind of cast it on pretty much every time I buff via my buff Xtarget 20 button, which will uh cast that on everybody, and then it’ll cast uh multicromatic rune on me, which is 2,000 more damage, right? This is like the ethereal rune line, right? uh this like that. But this one will also do damage if you know I’m getting shacked, right? So it’s kind of nice. Uh so that’s all those and then that’s everything, right? So that’s all the spells that we currently use the memorize. Right now obviously as a as an enchanter, we have a lot of other abilities. Um, uh, orders unity is our current level unity, uh, AA, which will give us, uh, our current, uh, ward, uh, buff and our current armor shield buff. I can’t click on because I don’t think I even have it because it the way it works, right? Uh, I don’t think I have it. I don’t know why. Uh, Voice of Content, uh, is our current level clarity. Uh, hasta is our current haste. I still have g guard of derusle on my bar. This is planes of power level uh magic resist. You can see here I’m at 512 magic resist at the moment with it on. So if we look at that our cap is 700. So there’s a little bit there. Like I I I’ve noticed like my my paladin is the only one I really care about, right? Uh resist wise. And he does, you know, take significant amount of magic issues like snares and stuff. So having that on is useful for me. Uh I do summon my animation. That is my pet. I do not bother charming. Uh I’m playing six characters. Adding a charm pet that breaks every, you know, randomly between one and six minutes is just a waste of time when you’re doing so much damage via the mages and the wizard that uh it’s just like why bother? If I was playing a single enchanter and I did not I was not boxing, I would charm. Um I might even charm at this level. I know I would charm from uh what like 12 when we get the first charm all the way till 65 for sure. Uh but it’s just it’s just adds too much complication that can cause issues that I don’t want to play with right now. Uh and then we have aura. I do the mystifier’s aura, which is just mana regen. my my uh my casters drain mana, especially my druid. Uh so having a more mana regen for them is always beneficial. All right, so that is my that is my spells. That is my extra spells. That is my rotation, right? There’s not much more to it than that. Now, we do have a few extra like clicky buttons here that are kind of useful to have. We have um doppelganger and stuff like that. just summon some illusions to, you know, pull off some hatred and stuff like that. Uh, our current level ADPS burn is not really there, right? It’s silent casting, doppelganger, and companions fortification, right? That’s that’s there’s nothing in there that’s ADPS, in fact. Uh, then we have our burn, which is just Arcane Whisper because we don’t have them yet. We don’t have any of the burns that I I’m looking for to start putting there yet. So, there’s not really much to talk about there. Now, I did set up a friendly stasis haki for Ketka, my wizard, and Viva, my druid. Now, this will uh put them in a stasis, escaping them from combat. Right now, I believe it’s like 85 or so. Every class will get this evader’s uh evader’s escape, right? Uh they’ll get some form of that. Now, the enchanter gets it early at level 80 uh versus everybody else at like 85. Now, I don’t know why, but it’s it’s what how it works. But they get self stasis and then they get friendly stasis. They’re on separate timers, so this is pretty nice. Uh this one we got at 75. Now, this allows me to, you know, really save the day. Uh so, it’s kind of a nice ability to have. Uh and that hotkey is literally just target them and uh friendly them. pretty self-explanatory. Now, we do have uh Azure crystal uh which is a restore 2,000 mana. So, we you know, we use the AA uh create the mana crystal and there’s the same one for health. Sanguine mine crystal does health, right? I usually create those as soon as I log on. Uh and I use them as I need them, right? It’s not a a big deal there. Uh we do have group perfect invisibility now at level 76. We got that. So, we can make everybody in the group invisible with standard invisibility, which is fantastic for uh navigating some areas of the game. Uh I do have a debuff button which will be changing about probably 85 to 90 uh when we get to AA slow and stuff like that. So, it’s pretty basic. It’s cast, cast slow, cast pet attack, right? X target 19 is always the target that my tank is targeting, right? So you see there the little circle goes under there. X target 19 upgrades there. And then it’s already set over here. I didn’t have to do anything. So the second I do it over here on this character, this guy’s already got the target. I don’t have to do any pauses. I don’t have to do anything stupid like assist. It just works. It’s fantastic. It’s almost instant, right? There’s a obviously, you know, the the the packets have to go from my character to the server and then from the server all to all the characters, right? So, you know, whatever that latency is for you. Uh, let’s see here. Then we have rune exter 20, which just literally cast our group rune. Uh, now that is just for uh, you know, I think six is my spam heal the tank, right? So, there’s something something going on and we need to save the tank, right? So, this is kind of she has the ability to save the tank. So, we’re going to, you know, try to save the tank. So, it’s kind of the thing there. Now we do have dire charm uh which will charm you know give us a permanent charm for 6 minutes on anything you know 80 or lower uh and then there is a uh you know 46 or lower you know get the dire charm pet but the dire charm pet is uh not as good as the summon pet so there’s no point even thinking about that anymore. Um but if you were you know wanted to do some fancy stuff you could use dire charm to get some fancy kills in and stuff like that. Uh, gather mana is just restores 20,000 mana every uh what? 1 hour. 1 hour. Uh, elder drun is a 5600 rune. Uh, doesn’t stack with the what is it over there? Multi chromatic rune. So, that is just something extra. Uh, you know, like that one goes down, you can’t cast it. Boom. Pop that. It’s instant. You and you get a little bit more rune there. Uh, let’s see here. What is this? Veil of the mind shadow. uh increases uh me. So my melee absorption goes up, right? So that’s pretty nice. We’re getting destroyed. And then we have the same thing again. Uh another 15,000. So a lot of mana, I mean a lot of uh melee, you know, reduction, right? And then we have uh mind over matter. Uh which instead of health, it takes for mana, which is actually kind of nice. Uh, so those, you know, this is my three, four defensive things right here for doing that, right? Uh, and then just over here is where I keep all the burns. So I can like when we get to the point we actually want to talk about these, um, I can just rightclick them and show them up here. But, uh, Silent Casting obviously lowers our aggro. Doppelganger lowers our aggro by creating illusions. And Arcane Whisper lowers the aggro even more. Arcane Whisper requires a target. Silent casting is all of our stuff. So, there’s some little slight differences there and stuff. All right, that is uh that is everything for that. Now, gearwise, uh obviously you can see I have terrible gear. Um I’m missing legs, helmet, arms. Uh you know, I’m still wearing what is this? Flawed defined silk, you know, labyrinth of silk, intricate silk. You know, I’m still wearing terrible gear. And uh obviously uh I am buffed. I have 142,000 hit points. What’s my ball pallet at right now? He’s at 148,000 hit points, right? Obviously uh we can now accept, you know, accept at level 80, I think 130 buffs, right? If we look at this, right, this should be a 130. Yeah. Uh this is a 130 druid buff, right? Gives us 30,000 points. So we we we have we’re buffed right now. So the stats don’t really matter. And that that’s kind of the experience on live. you’re going to want to get buffs to make things easier. Uh, now gearwise, you are going to want to focus on I like I would 100% focus on this. Like this is this if you go to hero’s journey, there’s a bunch of quests and they’re going to give you gear. Now, the level of effort on some of these is a little bit high, right? Some of these are easy. You go and do like two quests, you’re done, right? Some of the level efforts a little bit more than that, right? But expect in fact this gear, the Paragon’s gear is what I would say you would want. So you can even start this at level 75 if you wanted to. It’s a little rough. Like I’m not going to lie. Seasons of destruction at 75 is a little rough. Uh you go down here like the Herald of Ocean Green Hills, right? It’s going to give you both bracers, right? Uh with the alternate bracer there. So, uh, this gear is equivalent to House of Thier 1, Seeds of Destruction tier 4, I believe, or tier three. Uh, whatever whatever whatever the best Seeds of Destruction is, that’s where that is. So, you’re going to have a leg up, right? You’re going to have a leg up if you get this gear. Uh, I’m not going to do it in my questing for these guys. Uh, we’re going to we’re going to go down the Marks of Valor route and buy the Seeds of Destruction, I believe, is what we’re going to get here at level 80. Uh, we’re going to buy that gear and we’re going to buy the House of Thier 4, which will be the level 90 gear. So, we’re going to go down that route as we level up just so we can speed it up a little bit. Uh, but you can see here, this is significantly better than like what we’re wearing here. So, like that’s like what, 600 HP, let’s say. Um, where do I have any elegant to find on this guy? I don’t think I do. I think elegant defiant would be a step up, but I don’t have any. So, as you but you can see significant upgrades. So, that’s where I would go gearwise. I wouldn’t waste my time with much else. Uh, if you if you focus 100% on gear in your tank, you can literally ignore gear on these guys and like on your boxes until probably 111 for the most part. Uh, but I would definitely go do these. These are definitely they’re a fun experience. It’s a very fun expansion, uh, Seeds of Destruction to go through and do those. Uh, alternatively, and this is a very alternative, you can go into House of Thie and you can you can do things in House of Thier one. Uh, the the Furat is where you’re going to want to stay. I would stay there until you get all the gear. In all honesty, the names in the Fur are like permanently up. Like it’s it’s insane. And if you’re doing it during a bonus event, they’re always up no matter what. Uh you’re not going to spend much time. They’re, you know, waiting on a name to spawn. Uh my characters on FV, the ones I’ve spent the most time in the in the House of Th, they all have the hunters, right? They’ve without even trying they’ve gotten the hunters to like all the way to here without trying, right? So, uh that’s how common the names are. Uh I would definitely spend time there. You can go here at level 80. Like at level 80, you can go here and you can kill things. Uh I did it solo self found with my uh monk. Uh you can do it with any class you want. you’re going to rely more on a mercenary helping you, but uh it is definitely doable, but it is going to be on the harder end of the scale. Seeds of destruction is going to be fairly easy compared to House of Thul doing this quest. So tiered that. Now if you want to progress the gear in house of thool, which would be your 80 to 90 gear, uh you are going to want to do the House of Thier one gear to get to the tier two tier three to tier four, right? Except for the for just for the armor for the non-visalss and the weapons. Uh those are all dropped, right? So not a big deal. Uh, but the seeds of destruction, uh, is going to be, you know, the the like if you’re having struggle, uh, that’s going to be the route you’re going to want to go, right? Uh, I would entirely skip underfoot. Uh, just trust me on that. Uh, but that is that that is how I play my enchanter. Uh, it’s pretty simple. We’ll have an level 80 all everybody together video, but effectively all I do is I spam five, right? Like this is all I do, right? I go I’m spamming the five button as fast as I can push the button. Every single class and every quest can be played with one button if you ask me and I set up all my characters in that sense. Right. So this just spamming the button over and over again. As you can see, mind oscillate gets hit a lot but we go straight into the nuke. Right. The resurgence is up. Then we get strangle air. Now we have two dots going on here at the same time. Mind oscillate gets refreshed quite a bit. Uh, and then, uh, mana resurgence and stuff like that. Maybe not the most efficient, but that’s the best we can do right now. Uh, it works for me. It gives me a little bit of DPS to, you know, contribute with once we start getting our higher DP ADPS abilities and stuff like that. Uh, it will be crazy. We’ll be uh, we’ll be up there. We won’t be wizard. We won’t be mage, but we will be up there. So, definitely uh, something to keep in mind. But you can see here we’re getting some pretty nice damage without even trying. 7,800. Don’t even know where that one comes from. Right. Uh so definitely uh that’s probably a buff we have. That’s some kind of extra buff here. All right. So that is uh that is that that is how I play my level 80 enchanter. Uh it she’s a blast to play. I I mained an enchanter 1 to 65 for a long time uh on uh early classic ever quest and uh I it’s a fun class but uh at this point for me charming and uh fezing just isn’t really that useful when uh my tank can tank it. So that’s kind of something to keep in mind. Uh you’re just wasting time. You’re wasting time in a multibox situation if you’re playing with real people. Uh, it’s another thing, but at the same time, warriors, paladins, and shadow knights all do AoE stuff. So, unless you really coordinate with those people, they’re going to break your messes anyway. So, I mean, why bother? All right, so thank you very much for watching, and please have a fantastic day.
