Cazic Thule at difficulty four on Warrior, Bard and Cleric, which I call a turtling build because it has very little damage and simply refuses to die. It is the hardest thing I have killed in the game so far. Defensive stance stops holding partway through, endurance starts draining in a way I have not seen before, and the fight comes down to whether my mana outlasts his health.

Cazic Thule Plane of Fear WAR / BRD / CLR Difficulty 4 Hardest so far
His health at D476,000, against 69,000 at two
His output120 DPS, max hit 962
Lower difficulty wasAbout 90 DPS
Healing done80,000, with 45,000 overhealed
My AAs484, and no Sky gear at all

What He Brought This Time

Shadowknight, Necromancer and Berserker, with a two-hander.

  • The multiclasses are rolled per spawn, so treat this set as the one I drew rather than a fixed profile.
  • Soul leech off his weapon is relentless. He drains me the entire fight, which is the single defining feature of it.
  • He roots and dots on top of that, so there is always something ticking.
  • He is shrunk, and there is knockback. I get pushed out of cleave and kick range repeatedly and have to close back in.
  • Incoming climbs as the fight goes. Around 196 and 174 early, then 217 and 376 later.
  • He runs low on mana before I do, which is the turning point.

Defensive Stops Being Enough

Two things I had not run into before this fight.

  • At 376 a hit, defensive is no longer doing anything, so holding it is just paying for nothing.
  • Balanced becomes the answer mid-fight, banking endurance so I can drop back into defensive when it matters.
  • Defensive drains endurance here, which I say outright I have not noticed in any previous encounter, and I do not know what happens when it runs out while you are in it.
  • Recovery early to stay ahead on mana, because falling behind on mana is what loses this.
  • My mana against his health becomes the whole fight. At one point they are level, and from there it is arithmetic.

Two interface problems mid-fight: my song window vanished, and it is Alt E to bring back, which cost me attention I did not have. There is also a bug where the extended buff AA lengthens the Promise Renewal cooldown rather than helping.

The Belt I Put On First

An unproven upgrade going into the hardest fight yet.

  • A Bone Clasp Girdle, equipped just before the pull, carrying Burning Affliction III to raise dot damage.
  • I do not know whether it applies to bard dots, and say so, and never get a clean read on it during the fight.
  • It costs a little AC, putting me at 507, which I judge acceptable.

What the Parser Shows

The AoE slow is the whole build in one line.

  • Bard dots are 39 percent of my damage. Individually piercing is my biggest single source, but the dots together beat it.
  • The AoE slow is the bread and butter. It is the biggest contributor among the dots and simultaneously the biggest reduction in his damage, which is why this build survives at all.
  • The main hand is 24 percent. Upgrading it is the clearest path to more damage from here.
  • Ward of the Divine procs are 17 percent, off-hand 8, kicks 5.
  • The weapon proc fired 12 times for 3,800 damage, about 5 percent.
  • Cleaves are not counted by this parser, which is worth knowing before reading any of these percentages as complete.
  • He connected 466 times averaging 178, with a max hit of 962, for 120 DPS.
  • I healed 80,000 and overhealed 45,000, which I freely admit was deliberate caution.

I Am Undergeared and Saying So

Context for anyone watching this after launch.

  • No Plane of Sky gear whatsoever. I have not done Sky at this point.
  • The Sky cleric necklace alone would change this fight, with Promise Renewal on a clicky, never mind the weapons.
  • Mostly plus fours and plus fives, with no complete set of anything.
  • 484 AAs, which is reasonable, and the gear is the limiting half.
  • Treat this as a floor, not a benchmark. It gets easier from here for anyone following along later.

The Loot

Including one I had been waiting for.

  • Puppet Strings, finally, which gives me charm on a 10 charge item.
  • A Soul Leech at plus four, merged into the plus six I already had.
  • Shield of Rainbow Hues to plus five, which is 30 all resist and stays on.
  • Another Staff of the Earth Crafter to merge in.

What Is Left

The remaining difficulty four targets.

  • Nagafen at four is done. Innoruuk and Vox at four are not.
  • Vox is only outstanding because of the run, not the fight.
  • Innoruuk next at zero, one and two on shadowknight, necromancer and shaman.
  • Three and four go to the warrior, because I do not think shaman and necromancer can carry those.
  • That build could not have done this fight in its current gear, which is the honest comparison.

Hello and welcome to Everquest Legends. Today we are going to kill Cazic-Thul difficulty four or at least die trying. I have cleared the plane of fear. >> [laughter] >> I’m just going to say um it took a long time. Uh especially with this build. This doesn’t have a lot of DPS. It is a a turtling build if you will. Now uh we’re going to uh go up there and uh fight him him in a second. Now I just got a bone clasp girdle so I put that on or a girdle or whatever. I got that. So I’m I’m wearing that now. So that gives me um burning affliction three which increases the uh damage on my uh dots, right? Hopefully it works with bard dots. I don’t know. We’ll see here in a second though. Uh but here we go. Let’s uh wish me luck. If you think I’m going to fail post down below that I’m going to fail. If you think I’m going to win tell me that I’m going to win. All right. Let’s go up here. Just going to par start playing songs. I’m paralyzed. And all right. He’s a little tiny. He’s a little tiny boy. So uh ooh jeez. See look at his damage. Let’s get that PR on ASAP. And all right. Perfect. So let’s see. Uh 31 damage for that. Yeah it’s hard to tell. I’m not I’m not going to I’m not going to bother trying to focus with that right now. Uh we’re just going to fight this. Uh there’s not much we really have to do. It’s pretty much auto attack fight with PR every once in a while. Uh which seems to be good. Like he’s a shadow knight necromancer berserker which the berserker kind of benefits us more than anything but he is using a two-hander so uh maybe not. Uh we’ll see. I don’t know why he keeps like teleporting and whatever he’s doing. It’s kind of annoying. Uh, I am going to probably go into recovery. I can’t change it right now, can I? That’s 3 seconds away. I’m going to go into recovery. I don’t want to fall behind on mana, I think. Or else stops on recovery. Replay the song. All right, for perfect. And he’s like rooting us, dotting us. This is This is a whole ordeal. Uh, I’m going to probably overheal a little bit more than I normally would, uh, just because incoming damage is insane. Like, uh, you know, 196 174 double hits. Well, as you can see there, all the damage coming in from spells. And he’s only at 87%. Uh, this is definitely, uh, going to be a challenge. And we were too far away to even cleave him and kick him, uh, due to the knockback. So. I got to make sure we get back in a melee range. And I think that’s cuz he’s like shrunk, so he’s a little bit, uh, he’s a little bit feisty. There we go. Ooh, look at that. 202 139 174 170 139. Uh, looks like the Avatar power. And he’s soul leeching us with his sword. Uh, it’s just This is This is a Uh, definitely a fight here. But, I think in recovery plus defensive, we are good. Now, this is something I have not noticed before. Um, my song window’s gone. >> [laughter] >> It’s Alt B, right? No, Alt S. I don’t know. Let’s get promise renewal on. And try to fix that song window cuz I I feel like I’m not getting my region. Um What is the song window? Oh, jeez. Oh, that almost didn’t hit. Players, I’m like totally distracted here by the song window missing. There it is. Alt E. All right, we have it on. I don’t know why uh Yeah, we have 52 endurance regen. I don’t know what it is, but in defensive now, I’m like losing I am literally losing uh endurance. And I haven’t noticed that yet in any of these encounters. So, this is definitely uh uh not fun. Which means I won’t be able to withstand uh defensive this whole time. Yeah. I’m not sure what happens when I run out of uh endurance while defensive. So, we’ll keep it going here. I mean, do I need to play a different song? Uh seems like they would might help, but I don’t think it would help at all, honestly. He’s at 68%. He’s out of mana though. So, well, he’s low on mana. Let me preface that, right? And you know, we’re still at 67 mana. So, our mana is equivalent to his health at this point in time. So, as long as we can kind of hold out here a little longer, we should be fine. There we go. Now, I I like I have not done Plane of Sky yet. So, that like that’s a pre precursor here, right? That I have not done anything in Plane of Sky. I have no sky gear. And I I if I had sky gear, like the cleric necklace with PR on it like um you know the weapons and stuff I would definitely have a much easier time at this and so keep that in mind uh when you if you’re seeing this and it’s already in you know where we already hit retail that I am I would consider myself under geared even though I’m fairly geared and fairly AA’d at 484. Uh I would still consider my gear to be on the weaker side since I have like plus fours and plus fives and stuff like that. And I don’t even have like a real good set it’s it’s coming it’s coming. Oh I don’t even have a real good set of uh everything right so it’s just something to consider. Um losing all our buffs right now is not feeling like the right opportunity to happen uh for success here. Uh but we’ll we’ll persevere. All right he’s at 52% and we’re doing well. Doing very well here. See is there anything I could All right let’s do this. It fizzled. Hey all right I’m going to do a a scare a sacred echo and then I’m going to rampage just to get that on cool down. And then we’re going to go back in that that’s promise renewal’s at 3 seconds 1 2 3. Sorry I shouldn’t have went a little too fast there. But look how much he is soul leeching me. He is he is just soul leeching me like I am he’s a mosquito and I am a juicy blood bag of gore just waiting to be sucked on. Jesus Christ this is insane. I don’t think I proc that much. Like like look over here right earthquake earthquake soul leech soul leech slowly. Yeah, like he’s he’s cheesing the game here. But these uh Warden Divines are actually doing some pretty nice damage. I’m assuming that’s going to be a probably some of our bulk damage. All right, so we’re at 59% mana. He’s at 37%. If we can just continue to not mess up like I just did there and I failed to heal myself quick enough, uh we will have a successful endeavor here. And that’ll clear uh the this tier four. Now, I believe we’ve done tier four Nagafin. And uh we need to do tier four Ineruk and tier four Vox. Like I just I didn’t want to run the Vox. This is the only reason I haven’t done that one. That one’s uh that one’s a rush. Or, you know, like a long run. Now, uh will we do it? Yes, we will be doing those uh shortly. And that’ll allow that’ll clear all of the non non uh non content, right? The uh That is a longest Promise Renewal. 6 seconds? What on earth did I do wrong there? All right, jeez. I So, there’s a bug right now where it extended buff uh AA extends the the length of Promise Renewal. Uh unfortunately, so. All right, we’re at 26%. Can we Can we sustain this? We have 46% mana left. Uh I think we’re going to do it. All right, let’s do this. There is no way my Shadow Knight Shaman Necro could have done this In the in his current current gear. I’ll just say that. In his current gear, I think I can do it with better gear, but in his current gear, I don’t think it would be it just it would just wouldn’t be possible. Now, I did get the belt, so that’s going to increase his his overall damage there, so that’s going to be nice. Let’s go ahead and just renew all right now. Geez. 19%. All right. This is looking good. Now, if we go back to incoming damage, right? He’s hitting for 217, 376. 376. That means defensive is no longer doing anything. Let’s go into balance. All right. We’re going to stay in balance for a few minutes just to try to get a little bit more of our uh our stamina back, so we can go back into defensive. He’s at 15%. I promise renewal’s going to hit in 7 seconds. Uh we’re at what? 416 endurance. That is not going up very much. All right. We have 32% mana left. He’s at 11%. There’s a lot of data going on. A lot of data. He’s missing. He’s missing. Look at this. He’s just like, “I can’t hit you. I can’t hit you.” All right. There we go. Now, we got that. Go back into That’s so 70%. That’s probably the good amount to deal. Uh 366. 366. Oh my gosh. We’re at 507 AC. I lost a little AC putting on the bone glass girdle. But uh I don’t think it’s going to be a a big deal at the end. Um All right. I’m going to go into defensive, and then I’m going to do a promised, and then I’m going to go back into dots. He’s at 5%. I I we have enough endurance to, uh, to handle that. And, uh, there we go. 3% promise renewal in 2 seconds. 1 2 There we go. And perfect. 2% 1% And, definitely almost there. 0% He’s literally animation locked and dead. There we go, ladies and gentlemen. Uh, we have taken out Kaz ‘thul difficulty four. Let’s get a screenshot before I do anything else. So that, uh, we can have a thumbnail worthy of ‘thul himself. There we go. Perfect. A little bit to the side here. Maybe. Like that. Wish well. So there we go. That’s, uh, that’s the hardest uh, boss I’ve taken out in the, the game yet. Uh, so we got a soul leech plus four. We’re just going to merge that into my current soul leech that is, uh, currently plus six. Geez, I killed him a lot. Uh, which is a pretty nice weapon in all honesty, but, uh, it doesn’t really go with that. We got puppet strings finally which give us the ability to charm. Uh, I don’t know how many charges that is. We also got a shield of rainbow hues plus four which I’ve been using. Uh, since we got the first one as just the thing. So let’s put that on. That’s a plus five now. So that’s 30 all resist. Pretty nice little item. And then we got another, uh, staff of the earth crafter. I’m just going to merge those. There we go. And then, uh, this has 10 charges. So that’s pretty nice. All right. So there we go. Uh, let’s look at the data. Uh, let’s look at the data. So Kaz ‘thul uh, difficulty four right here at 76,000 hit points and the previous one difficulty two was 69,000 hit points. So, let’s zoom into that real quick. And see where our damage came from. What did we do to do this damage? 39% came from our bard dots. That is fantastically crazy. Uh, 24% from our our just slashing melee, right? Like that is uh, that is pretty crazy. Uh, just from the main hand, main hand only. Like I’m using a pierce in the main hand and a slash in the off hand. The procs from the ward of the divine, 17% of my damage. And my off hand, 8%. My kicks, 5%. Uh, cleaves are not counted in this. Uh, so that is something to keep in mind. This uh, parser does not account for the cleaves. So, those are somewhere in here. Which uh, which probably shows in different numbers, obviously, but uh, this is good enough. And then our procs from our weapon, which hit 12 times. We procced 12 times. Uh, 5% at 3,800. Uh, the the AoE slow is our biggest damage right here, which is our biggest damage saver. So, this is like the the bread and butter spell, I would call it. This spell alone is lowering the the damage of the mob and is giving our most amount of uh, you know, contri- contribution to our dots, right? Uh, it’s not our most damage. Our piercing is our most damaging, but all of the dots together is the uh, is the most. So, that’s pretty nice to see. So, if we upgrade our main hand even more, we would do more damage. So, that is kind of, you know, a good thing to think about there. Our procs on our off hand that proct what Um it dot it created it triggered 16 times. I don’t know how many times it proct though. Uh like ticks in the dots. So, not too bad, right? Not too bad. I think I feel like this I feel like this is comfortable for where we are and stuff like that. Uh definitely Oh, wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. We didn’t look at healing, did we? Healing summary. 80,000 healing 45,000 overhealed. I was I was overhealing. I’m not going to lie. And then uh damage let’s see here. The average hit was 178. Uh he had a he had a 58 chance to hit. 28% He hit me 466 times. The max hit he did was 962 damage. 962 damage for 120 DPS total. If we go to the previous one, so that’s 127 DPS. Uh 90 DPS. So, that’s a significant DPS increase over three to four. Uh and we felt it. We felt it for sure. So, there you go. That is difficulty four of Kazzak’thul. Uh next we’ll be trying difficulty one zero, one, and two with a shadow knight necro shaman build of Innoruuk. And then we’ll be doing three and four with a warrior. I just do not think the shaman necro can do three and four, but we’ll do those with the warrior. If I have not already done those on the channel yet. Uh but thank you very much for watching and please have a fantastic day. >> Mhm.
