Producers Letter June 30, 2026
The letter that opened the pre-order beta. July 1st at noon Pacific, which servers to avoid if you want in quickly, the roadmap tease with Kunark in the winter, and my advice not to take the day off.
Six minutes on the letter that opened the pre-order beta. The date, the servers, the roadmap tease, and the one thing I restate twice: this is not early access, everything gets wiped at launch. I close with launch-day advice that has nothing to do with the letter and everything to do with having seen this before.
What Was Announced
One date, one warning.
- Pre-order beta servers open Wednesday July 1st at noon Pacific, two Central, three Eastern.
- You can log in, reserve your character name, and play from that moment.
- Everything is wiped at launch. I say it in the first thirty seconds and again later, because pre-order beta is not early access and I do not want anyone confusing the two.
- A lot of servers are being created. I picked Freeport, which is where the rest of the beta run happens.
- You need the pre-order. Create a Daybreak account, and the client can be downloaded and preloaded ahead of time.
Which Server
Practical advice buried in an announcement video.
- Rivervale looks like the popular one, so expect it to be the slowest to get into.
- Halas may end up empty. I have not heard of anybody planning to roll there.
- Pick a quieter server if you want to play immediately. That is the whole trade.
- Expect a queue regardless. I compare it directly to a TLP launch, and the letter itself warns about delays at peak times over the weekend.
The Roadmap Tease
The part worth marking on a calendar.
- A post-launch roadmap is coming soon, which I say I want to see.
- Housing and a player auction system are both named.
- More content in the autumn, with one name I stumble over reading out.
- Kunark in the winter.
- Still in beta despite the date. The letter lists balance passes, finishing spell upgrades, dungeon revamps and bug fixes as ongoing.
Harbingers of Thule
The origin story tucked into a stream announcement.
- A developer live stream on July 3rd at 3pm, with special guests and devs.
- Tales of the past and plans for the future, which is the standard part.
- An all-Iksar PvP guild called Harbingers of Thule was the original inspiration for EverQuest Legends. I read it out and react to it: that is not a detail anyone would have guessed.
Do Not Take the Day Off
My actual advice, given twice.
- Take a half day if you must. A noon Pacific start is two Central, so the afternoon covers it either way.
- Things go wrong on launch day. The second day is usually fine and you log in without trouble.
- I am always sceptical of launches and say so plainly, having watched enough of them.
- Expect negativity and ignore it. I predict it will happen and say the game is playable regardless.
My Own Numbers
Offered as the counterweight to the scepticism.
- Around two months in, with 15 days played.
- I have not logged into EverQuest Live once since starting, which is the statistic I think says the most.
- For context, I played live with six characters every day for four or five years before this.
- There are bugs and I say so, but nothing I consider ruinous.
- I thank the team for the beta access and the freedom to make videos about it.

Hello and welcome to EverQuest Legends news today actually. Uh so EverQuest Legends producers letter June 30th came out today. And uh it’s pretty doozy. It announces the open pre-order beta I guess is what you call it, early access not so much, but uh pre-order beta. So you can try out the game before launch where everything gets wiped, so uh I hope that’s clear there, but so Wednesday, July 1st at noon Pacific, 3 Eastern, 2 Central. Uh the pre-order beta servers will launch and you’ll be able to log in and reserve your character and play. Uh there’s a whole bunch of servers being created. I have chosen to play on the Freeport server, so uh maybe I’ll see you there. We have a see they have a fun live stream planned for July 3rd at 3:00 p.m. with some special guests and some devs. And then we’re counting the tales of the past, talk about the plans for the future and sharing about how an all XR PvP guild called Harbingers of Thule served as the original inspiration for EverQuest Legends. Well, that’s crazy. Uh as soon as they open the pre-order beta servers, encourage everyone to have fun and be patient. We will do our best to manage the traffic as folks enter the game, but you should be reasonably expect there’s some delays in peak downtimes, all right, I mean overtimes, all right, peak times over the weekend, right? So uh I would expect it’ll be like any TLP launch in EverQuest. There’s probably going to be a queue to fur some of the servers. I know the Rivervale server seems to be the popular one, so you might uh you might want to try a different server if you’re uh looking to play immediately. After Halas might be empty, so uh I haven’t heard anybody playing on that, and so you know, do what you got to do, um what not. And uh while the game is very close to launch and ready, it is still in beta. We’re continuing to do balance passes, com- uh completing new features like spell upgrades, revamping dungeons, and fixing bugs. The game is already amazing, and it is going to be uh better. To that end, we will be releasing a post-launch roadmap soon. Oh, that’ll be nice to see. This will outline the plans they have for housing, player auction, uh Necro- Necropos, Nec- Necropos, I don’t know. Uh Castle in the fall and Kunark in the winter, and much more. I’d like to express how excited we are for everybody to join us in the game. Daybreak and Game John have worked critically hard to bring a new way to experience in Norrath. Our goals from the beginning were to capture the feeling of original EverQuest while respecting your time and accommodating as many different playstyles as possible. I believe we hit the mark, and we can’t wait to explore the world of Norrath and the future of EverQuest Legends with you all. And that is from David, the exec- executive producer of the game. And I’d like to say thank you to uh Game John and Daybreak for letting me be in the beta uh and uh participate there and make videos and all that stuff. I really appreciate that. And uh you know, definitely uh I plan to make more going forward, so uh definitely a fun time. I’m I can’t wait to see everybody get into play the game I’ve been playing and you know, getting so many questions about, so it is going to be uh it’s going to be a fun time. I’m expecting uh I I like I I’m always skeptical on game launches, so I’m I’m I’m don’t take the day off. >> [laughter] >> I truly tell that to people. Like they they say they they want to take the day off, right? And then they’re you know, sitting around this is going to be two central, right? Take a half day if you’re going to take the day off, right? Take a half day. Cuz you know, things go wrong and usually the second day is perfect and you can log in no problem. But you know, like just you know, temper your expectations and don’t get mad. I know there’s going to be there’s going to be some negativity. Like I’m going to I’m just going to be straight up and honest. There will be some negativity and you know, just just ignore it because the game is fought the game is playable. And I’ve I’ve had a blast for the last it was like two months maybe. I have no idea how long it’s been. I have like 15 days played in game. And I have I have had an absolute blast. I have not logged on EverQuest Live since I started playing this. Like that is how much fun this game is to me. And this is coming from someone who played EverQuest Live with six characters every single day for like the last four years. So [laughter] maybe five years. Like I truly think this is a very fun game. And I’ve had so much fun. You know, there’s some bugs and stuff, but you know, that’s that’s honesty. You know, there’s some there’s some of that there, but nothing that is going to ruin anything there. But definitely you know, look out for that tomorrow if you’re interested. You have to pre-order. I think you go like right somewhere right here, create account on Daybreak’s website and then you log in and then I think you can do that. You can download the game now and pre-load it and have it all ready and be ready to go. So thank you very much for watching. I hope see you tomorrow, but thank you very much for much for watching and have a fantastic day. >> Mhm.

The case for starting Iksar: every guild master, every caster and hybrid spell vendor, the bank and the mote trader in one hub, opening onto North Ro with ports to Hate and Sky either side of you.
Crushbone SHM / SK / WIZ 14 to 15
A full clear of the revamped Crushbone at level 14, instanced at difficulty 1 so nothing flees. Every route in, the named that the game never flags as named, the wood elf faction grind, and the clicky damage shield that is the only real reason to come.
Splitpawn Lair SHM / SK / NEC 41 to 42
A full clear of Splitpaw Lair on revamp day at level 41. Every named mapped, the chain-stunning gnoll casters that killed me twice, the shields worth taking, and a sustained argument that the experience here does not keep pace with Guk.
