How I Play My Level 120 Berserker
A walkthrough of my level 120 EverQuest Berserker setup while three-boxing with a Warrior and Shaman. Covers disciplines, frenzy rotations, burn sequences, AoE options, the Blood Fury health mechanic, and key AAs like Juggernaut Surge and Ecliptic Rage.
An ADPS powerhouse melee class running with Warrior and Shaman support. This build focuses on the level 120 toolkit, frenzy rotations, managing the Blood Fury health threshold, and stacking burns for maximum burst DPS.
Session Overview
How the trio is wired before you touch the keyboard.
- Role: Pure burst melee DPS. Disciplines only, no spells.
- Support: Warrior (tank) + Shaman (heals, Panther, Epic, Torpor).
- Focus: Frenzy rotation, Blood Fury health management, burn stacking, and AoE target decisions.
- Note: Fully geared in level 120 equipment with all item clicks activated.
Frenzy Rotation (Core DPS)
The three frenzy abilities that form your bread and butter.
- Oppressing Frenzy (116, Timer 12): Strikes with three frenzy attacks doing 260 damage each. Debuffs the target to take 25% more damage from frenzy and throwing attacks for 18 seconds. Use on cooldown.
- Blinding Frenzy (120, Timer 11): Melee attacks trigger a blinding frenzy strike for 4,000 damage. Lasts 36 seconds, each strike refreshes the ability. Requires 90% health or below.
- Buttressed Frenzy (Timer 11): Another frenzy attack for 7,800 damage. Also requires 90% health. Alternate with Blinding Frenzy on Timer 11.
Key mechanic: Timer 12 and Timer 11 frenzies alternate. Use one, and when the timer's up, use the other. Keep both rolling.
Blood Fury & Health Management
The annoying but necessary health threshold mechanic.
- Blood Fury: Self-damage ability that drops health. One click takes you from 100% → ~87%, getting you under the 90% threshold for Blinding/Buttressed Frenzy.
- Stinging Incision: Caps your HP at 89% while active, locking you under the 90% threshold so Blinding and Buttressed Frenzy stay enabled even through Shaman heals. Pop it during burn windows so you don't have to spam Blood Fury between heals.
- The problem: Shaman heals (especially Shower) push you back above 90% quickly. Group Torpor ticks you back to 100%.
- Solution: Bind Blood Fury to multiple hotkeys. Pull button (Numpad 1), spam button (Numpad 2), and debuff rotation. This way you're constantly cutting yourself between heals.
- In group play: This mechanic puts a burden on the healer. It's frustrating but necessary for full DPS.
AoE Options (Timer 16)
Choosing between Whirl and Arcshear.
- Vicious Whirl (Timer 16, 1min reuse): 7,200 damage to up to 12 targets. Hit for ~23k in testing.
- Arcshear (119, Timer 16, 30s reuse): Single-target axe cut. Hit for ~27k in testing. Fewer targets but double the reuse speed.
- Verdict: Arcshear does roughly equivalent total damage with 30s reuse vs 60s. More damage per minute unless pulling 4+ mobs regularly. Use Arcshear for most content.
Key Abilities
The rest of the discipline bar.
- Frothing Rage: Adds a chance (27%) for two additional melee attacks with 336 base damage for 1 minute. Each successful strike can refresh the rage. Keep this rolling.
- Phantom Assailant (100): Summons a pet that attacks your target. Never gets upgraded past 100 but still worth using on cooldown.
- Axe of Xin Diabo: Three massive axe swings. Tested at 40k, 98k, 157k. Requires Axe of the Conqueror (summoned, 100 per pop, burns through them fast). Keep on cooldown.
- Shared Violence: Buffs your target's target (typically the tank) with bonus damage. Significantly boosts Warrior DPS. Use on cooldown.
- Maiming Axe Throw (Timer 10): Ranged axe throw for ~48k damage. Shares timer with Tendon Shred (snare + DoT) and Temple Shatter (stun up to 120). Pick based on situation.
Ecliptic Rage & AAs
Progressive abilities and key AAs at 120.
- Ecliptic Rage (116): Current progressive ability. Important: Auto-grant does NOT grant Night of Shadows spells. You must buy Ecliptic Rage, Conqueror's Conjunction, and others from the vendor in Shar Vahl, Divided.
- Juggernaut Surge (AA): Major burn AA. Stack with your discipline burns for peak DPS windows.
- Bloodlust Aura (Passive AA): Increases crit damage. Keep maxed.
Vendor tip: If playing during Night of Shadows, go to Shar Vahl, Divided to buy the 3-4 disciplines that auto-grant skips. Don't miss these.
Hotbar Layout
How the buttons are wired for 3-boxing.
- Numpad 1 (Pull): Blood Fury (self-damage to drop below 90%)
- Numpad 2 (Spam): Blood Fury + core frenzy rotation
- Numpad 3 (Debuff): Blood Fury + debuff abilities
- Multibind: Oppressing Frenzy → Blinding Frenzy → Buttressed Frenzy → Frothing Rage → Arcshear → Axe of Xin Diabo
- Separate cooldowns: Shared Violence, Phantom Assailant, Maiming Axe Throw
Boxing tip: Blood Fury is bound to multiple buttons so anytime you're pressing anything on your other characters, the Berserker keeps cutting himself to stay under 90% health.
Class Synergies
How the Berserker meshes with common group and box setups.
- Warrior (tank): Shared Violence directly boosts the Warrior's DPS. Berserker generates enough aggro that the Warrior needs to actively hold. Make sure your tank is running their aggro disc.
- Shaman: Panther and Epic buff melee damage significantly. Torpor keeps you alive but fights Blood Fury. Coordinate heal timing or accept the health yo-yo.
- Bard: Quick Time, Fierce Eye, and Dirge amplify frenzy damage. Bard ADPS is arguably the best pairing for a Berserker's burst windows.
- Enchanter: Haste and Auras stack well. Chromatic Haze on burn phases is massive.
- Ranger: Group Guardian of the Forest + Berserker burns = huge spike. Ranger also benefits from Shared Violence if tanking.
- Other Berserkers: Shared Violence doesn't stack from multiple Berserkers, so in raid settings only one needs to run it.
3-box priority: Warrior + Shaman is the bread-and-butter combo. If you add a 4th, Bard gives the biggest DPS uplift for the Berserker.

- Pre-pull: Blood Fury → Frothing Rage → Phantom Assailant.
- Engage: Oppressing Frenzy → Blinding Frenzy → Arcshear → Axe of Xin Diabo.

- On cooldown: Shared Violence → Maiming Axe Throw → Phantom Assailant.
- Burns: Stinging Incision → Juggernaut Surge + Ecliptic Rage + all cooldowns at once for peak burst.
- AoE packs: Arcshear (or Vicious Whirl if 4+ targets).
