Dwarf Race Unlock

Unlocking Dwarf in EverQuest Legends: roughly 800 Tumpy Tonics brewed from Kiola Nuts and Water Flasks, handed to Trantor Everhot in North Kaladim. The brewing is the whole quest.

August 8, 2026

Dwarf is a brewing quest wearing a faction quest's clothes. There is no chain and no kill count: you make roughly 800 Tumpy Tonics and hand them to one dwarf in North Kaladim. Getting there means levelling Brewing to 135 from scratch, buying a couple of thousand Kiola Nuts on the other side of the world, and finding an NPC who roams and does not show on tracking.

What you needAround 800 Tumpy Tonics
IngredientsKiola Nut plus Water Flask, per tonic
SkillBrewing, trivial 135
Turn inTrantor Everhot, North Kaladim

Do Wood Elf First

The reason this run starts in the wrong city.

  • I run this as a Wood Elf, not as my Ogre, purely for faction. Having Wood Elf unlocked first is what makes the merchant side of this painless.
  • Starting faction decides the bill. As a Wood Elf the lowest relevant standing was apprehensive and about 2,000 short, which is what sets the tonic count. A worse starting race needs more.
  • The muffin turn ins carry over. Feeding Pandos is what puts you at ally with the merchant who sells the nuts, so the shopping trip does not need its own faction work.

Buying Kiola Nuts

Ocean of Tears, and bring bag space.

  • Cleonae Kalen on Sister Isle sells Kiola Nuts, out in the Ocean of Tears.
  • They do not stack past 100, so buying in bulk is a genuine slog through the merchant window rather than one click.
  • Around 2,000 is the right order for the roughly 800 tonics this takes, one nut and one Water Flask each.
  • Dump them straight into the trade skill depot rather than carrying them, and pull them back out when you reach the barrel.

Depot trick: drag a whole bag onto the trade skill depot and everything in it deposits in one action, instead of item by item.

Getting to Kaladim

And the two things the local vendors will not sell you.

  • Translocator to Butcherblock is 50 platinum, or free if you have ports of your own. Taking the boat both ways just gets you taxed twice.
  • The brewing supply vendor in Kaladim has barley, casks and hops, which covers the skill up.
  • He does not sell water. Water Flasks come from the adventuring merchant nearby, which is an easy five minutes to lose looking for.
  • There is no bank in that part of the city. North Kaladim has one, which is the same direction as the turn in, so fold the trips together.
  • The barrel is by the rogue guild, close enough to the vendors to make the loop short.

Levelling Brewing

Short Ale carries the whole climb.

  • Buy the first 20 or so from a guild master rather than grinding it, then start combining.
  • Short Ale is barley, hops, a cask and a Water Flask. Trivial 51, and it is the only recipe worth making on the way up.
  • Make it on repeat to 51, then switch to manual combines of the tonic itself and let that carry you the rest of the way to 135.
  • Failures near the trivial are normal. The first few tonics fail before the skill catches up, which looks like a bug and is not.

Ignore the wiki's skill up path here. It sends you at recipes that do not work, which cost me real time before I gave up on it and went with Short Ale.

Making the Tonics

One recipe, several hundred times.

  • Tumpy Tonic is a Kiola Nut and a Water Flask. Brewing, trivial 135, so the tonics finish levelling the skill while you make them.
  • Use make all against the depot and walk away. Doing them singly is what makes this quest hurt.
  • An NPC will do the combine for you, but one at a time, which is not a real option at this volume.
  • Brewing is worth having anyway, so this is not skill spent on one unlock and then wasted.

Trantor Everhot

North Kaladim, and he does not stand still.

  • He roams and he is not on tracking, so expect to sweep the area. He turned up downstairs near the forge.
  • Hand the tonics over in bulk and watch Storm Guard climb.
  • 411 was not enough. Storm Guard completed and the con reached warmly, still a few hundred short of the unlock, which meant a second brewing session.
  • Budget around 800 and you should clear it in one trip. More if you start from worse faction than a Wood Elf.

Count before you travel. Being a thousand faction short after brewing 400 tonics is the one avoidable mistake in this whole quest.

What a Turn In Is Worth

Trantor takes two tonics at a time.

  • Storm Guard: +5
  • Kazon Stormhammer: +5
  • Miners Guild 249: +5
  • Merchants of Kaladim: +5
  • Craknek Warriors: -1
  • Dwarf unlocks at 2,000 faction, which is what the whole brew is for.

Where the 800 comes from. The unlock needs 2,000 and a hand in is two tonics for +5, so 400 hand ins is exactly 2,000 and 800 tonics is exactly the bill. That is the whole sum. It also explains the 411, about 205 hand ins and +1,025: barely past half, which is why it took a second brewing session. All four climb at the same rate, so it is whichever started lowest that has to reach 2,000.

Switching Over

Same as every other unlock.

  • Edit a loadout, set the race to Dwarf and save.
  • Check your bracers afterwards. They came back on the wrong arms after the swap and needed re-seating.
  • Dwarf is a prerequisite, not the goal. It is being unlocked to hand in the White Dragon Scale Cloak quest as something other than an Iksar.

Dwarf Unlock at a Glance

  1. Unlock Wood Elf first so the merchant faction is already handled.
  2. Sail to Sister Isle in the Ocean of Tears.
  3. Buy about 2,000 Kiola Nuts from Cleonae Kalen, 100 at a time.
  4. Translocate to Butcherblock and run to Kaladim.
  5. Buy barley, hops and casks from the brewing vendor.
  6. Buy Water Flasks from the adventuring merchant. The brewer does not stock them.
  7. Take Brewing to 51 on Short Ale, then to 135 on the tonics themselves.
  8. Brew around 800 Tumpy Tonics with make all.

Hello and welcome to an EverQuest Legends guide. Today we’re going to be unlocking [music] the dwarf race. And you’re going to be like, why are you in the wood elf area? Why are you a wood elf? One, I’m a wood elf for faction reasons, right? We [music] just unlocked that in the previous video. But at this point, we’re in Ocean of Tears on uh Sister Island here. What we need to do is buy some Kyola nuts. So, uh, right in here from, uh, Sister Cleon Kalin, she is, uh, an ally with us because we just gave Pandos a bunch of muffins. She is going to sell, uh, Kyola nuts right here. So, we’re going to need a lot of these. Um, they don’t stack over 100. So, I don’t like this is this is going to be a list. So, that’s uh, it’s like a thousand. What is that? 10. That’s,000. 2,000. Uh, this is probably enough, right? I’m going to put all these in my trade skill depot. All right, perfect. We got that. Now, we’re going to, if you don’t know where I’m at, right, sister island right here. Uh, K Cleona, right? Right there. Come back over here to the translocator. We’re going to go to Butcher Block. Now, you can save yourself the 50 platinum and use the uh and use the uh ports if you got them. Uh or you can get double taxed, but uh here we go. Now, we’re going to go into Caladam. We need to get flasks of water. So, what we’re going to be doing is we’re going to craft um let’s see here. Probably 800 of these things. I don’t know, maybe 400, 500. Uh we’re going to be making a lot of uh some uh some alcohol here for a dwarf. And then we’re going to turn those in and get a dwarf faction and finish this off really quick. They’re called Tumpy Tonics. Really easy to make. Uh, I think it’s a trivial 130, so I might have to do a little uh offline clicky clicky, but uh it’s not going to be it’s not going to be difficult. Nothing’s difficult. All right, let’s just keep running here. Hopefully, we can get over this hole. Yep, just like that. And we’re almost in Kaladam. And so, we’re going to get in here and uh find a Brew Bear uh and get our skill up real quick. [music] and I’ll I’ll cover all the things that I used to level up as we get into this. All right, we zoned in. There is a brewing supply guy right over here. So, let’s uh see if he’s got what we need to uh progress this. I did my brewing last time in uh and uh what you call it? Freeport. So, okay, we need barley, cask, and hops. Barley. [music] Yoink. Cask. Yoink. And hops. Boom. All right. That’ll get us to uh 31 skill. Ooh, what is he saying? Skull ale. O. That is not that [music] is not okay. Short ale. What kind of what [laughter] kind of what kind of guide tells you to go, you know, 1 to 151, go uh do this? The wiki is got so such such mis misinformation when it comes to some [music] things. That’s just hilarious. All right, we want All right, so apparently the brewer does not sell water. I kid you not. All right. So, uh, we need to find some water, which I am definitely not seeing. Oh, there’s a there’s a general right here. All right, perfect. This guy might sell it. Uh, this is the dude we need to sell uh junk to here. Give this junk to when we’re done anyway. Yeah, he doesn’t. She doesn’t. All right, so, okay, here we go. Adventuring merchant. Perfect water flask. All right, we’re going to grab a bunch of this junk. All right, that should be plenty. Now, unfortunately, we got to find a bank. Uh, and there [music] is no bank in this part of Kaledam. So, we need to go to North Kadam real quick to get rid of this stuff right through here. All right, perfect. The bank is right here. So, we’re just dropping this off. This isn’t a part of the unlock. This is just like a side quest really uh to get there. But Trade Skill Depot, if you grab your bag, you can just drop it in and drop everything in in one single action, right? If you didn’t know that, well, there you go. There’s a bonus for you today that you didn’t know you were going to learn from this video. There we go. And then I just grab all these nuts, right? Uh, we can keep a bag of nuts, right? It’s always good to keep a bag of nuts on you, right? So, let’s go back to that brewing barrel. I don’t think there’s one right here, but conveniently, it’s really close, right? This is the rogue guild. And, uh, all right. Now, we can do this. So, what I’m going to do is I’m going to do my brewing, and then I’ll show you what I skilled up on to get to where we have enough to make the [music] combines. Now, you can turn in these things into that guy like two nuts in a water and he’ll do the combine for you, but uh I don’t think he’ll do it like many at a time, right? So, you got to do it like one by one [music] and uh cry about your wrists and your arms and your pain because trade skills are not fun. All right, so we’re already at 20 skill cuz I like went to a vendor. I mean a guild master at some point and did that. So, we’re going to do uh what is it? Hops. No, that’s barley. Barley hops and a cask. Combine that. Nope. Maybe it needs water. A little little water, too. There we go. That gives us a short ale. We got that on the first try. So, we can uh search recipes. Come on. There we go. Sort by trivial, right? That was what? Short ale. So go like what is it? Short beer. Now what is this one? That’s malt. There we go. Short ale 51 trivial. Right. So make all uh [music] and personal depot. So I’m just going to click combine and we’ll come back when we uh get to the skill we need. All right. So we’re about to hit 51. There we go. So we’re going to manual combine. We’re going to skip everything else. So, we’re just going to make the tonic, right? Combine. I can’t tell if that failed or what happened there. Uh, lagged, I guess. So, we’re just going to try to get this combine until it works, right? Uh, you can see here down in the bottom, we’re failing. We should get it, right? It’s not that big a difference in skill. So, once we combine one, we’re going to need it. Now, these tonics are uh very good for getting faction up, right? So, these will this will max out our dwarf faction. Uh and later on when we work on our Knights of Truth faction for Soulfire, we’re going to need to make more of these anyway. So, there we go. We got it. Uh really easy there. So, now we’re going to make about 400 to 500 of these right now. So, I’m going to click combine and I will come back. Now, these are a trivial 135, so we’re going to get 135 skill out of this. Uh, once we have those, we’ll finish the unlocking of the dwarf. All righty. 411 tonics later, I think we’re ready to go turn this in. So, we need to go to North Kadam, which is uh where we went to the bank to make some bank space, right? Or bag space. But uh should be right up here. Now, I I was looking at my faction. And it looks like my lowest one is apprehensive, which is 2,000 away as a wood elf right now as my ogre or uh other form. Uh it might be a little lower, but we’re looking for what is this guy’s name here? I got everything on the other screen from the wiki, right? Trantor Everhot, right? So that’s his name. So is he on tracking? Of course, he’s not. Uh, let’s see if we can find him here. Jeet Trantor. Trantor. Sounds like a raid boss. Is that him? No. All right, let’s go over here. So, he’s some spawns somewhere. He like roams around, so he’s a little bit more tedious. There he is. Right there. All right. There is this forge. Maybe he’s downstairs. [music] There he is. All right. So, we’re going to grab him. Going to give him the 413 tonics [music] right there. And you can see our faction just flying by. Uh, there we go. Storm Guard complete. My god, did we not have enough? Oh, we didn’t have enough to finish it. Right. Where are we at here? Storm Guard is complete. We’re warmly. So, [music] oh god, we’re only a few hundred away. All right, let me let me fix that. All right, we’re back. [laughter] 410 more. All right, hopefully this is enough. I was only like a thousand faction off. There we go. Race unlocked, dwarf. I would expect 800 and something tumpy ton tonics to be able to to knock this out. Uh it might be less, might be more. Took me 800. Uh so there we go. Race unlock dwarf. All right, let’s let’s see what the dwarfy looks like. Switch [sighs and gasps] dwarf. Save. And there we go. Let’s go out here and look at our badass dwarf. There we go. Wait, wait. We got to fix this bracer because they keep going on the wrong arms. There we go. Dwarf. Look at him go. All right. So, that’s how you do it. It took me a little bit of time. I recommend I recommend doing the brewing if if things go as they are. Uh the way the game goes, uh eventually you’ll need brewing to uh be able to do the uh the ring. So, you’re probably going to want to do that in all honesty. Uh if it goes that way, but uh it might not. But, uh there you go. That is how you unlock the dwarf. We are uh dwarf ready. I don’t know which race is going to be next, but uh we needed to unlock this for the next quest I am going to do, which is [music] going to be the uh white dragon scale cloak. Uh I think anyway, I don’t know. It’s a dwarf you turn it into. I don’t know if he’s indifferent or not, but I didn’t want to roll up there as an XR to do it. So, uh, there you go. Thank you very much for watching and please have a fantastic day.
