Iksar Race Unlock
Unlocking Iksar in EverQuest Legends: metal bits and small high quality ore handed to Crusader Iktra in North Ro. Buy the ore in Kelethin or farm it, then turn in until you hit ally.
Iksar is a faction unlock rather than a single handin. You need roughly 400 metal bits and just under 200 small pieces of high quality ore, and you hand them to one NPC outside the Iksar village in North Ro until the faction maxes. The materials are the whole cost: buy them in Kelethin and it runs about 900 platinum, or farm them and it is free.
Buying the Materials
South Kelethin, one vendor and the forge beside him.
- The smithing supplies vendor in South Kelethin is on the find list, so bring up find and search rather than hunting the tree platforms. He sits just off the North Kelethin zone line.
- Small bricks of high quality ore are 18 each. He also stocks large bricks and blocks at varying prices.
- Break the big ones down at the forge outside his hut. Large bricks and blocks come apart into ore right there, so you never carry them far.
- A smithing chisel turns small bricks into small pieces. Buy the chisel from a vendor, click it on the bricks, and you end up with the pieces the turn in wants.
- Fine steel is a shortcut. One piece of fine steel combined with water yields two bricks of small high quality ore.
Or Farm It Instead
The 900 platinum is impatience, not a requirement.
- Solusek's Eye drops the ore. A run from 19 to 28 there produced about 30 bricks along the way, so the leveling pays for the unlock if you are heading that direction anyway.
- The platinum only covered the shortfall. Roughly 50 pieces were missing at the end and buying them cost about 900, purely to get the video made rather than because it was needed.
- Blackburrow builds the faction directly if you would rather fight than gather. One to three hours depending on the race combination you started as.
Crusader Iktra
North Ro, outside the Iksar village.
- He stands with the Crusaders outside the village. Gating is the quick way back once the materials are bought, since the buying and the handing in are in different corners of the world.
- Hail him, then ask about supplies. He explains the two things he wants: bits of metal in batches of four, and small pieces or small bricks of high quality ore.
- He cons dubious to start, and his greeting is half warning about what happens if you attack instead of help. Dubious is still enough to trade, so this is not the faction wall the Dark Elf unlock has.
What Each Turn In Is Worth
Bricks beat pieces, so do the maths before you chisel.
- Small bricks: 15 faction each.
- Small pieces: 10 faction each.
- Metal bits: 5 faction each, handed over in batches of four.
- Bricks are worth more unchiselled, which is worth knowing before you spend a chisel breaking them down into pieces.
The Handin
Two passes, and the client will struggle.
- Metal bits first. Four hundred went in and 160 came straight back unused, which was still enough on its own to reach amiable. Carry more than the arithmetic suggests.
- Then the ore. Two hundred small pieces on top took it to max ally.
- Expect it to lag hard. Several hundred items at once stalls the client for a while. That is normal, not a failed trade.
- Con between passes to see where you are rather than guessing how much more you need.
Hitting ally unlocks Iksar, and opens the expedition faction with it.
Switching Over
Not a button on the character.
- There is no direct convert. Trying to turn into an Iksar on the spot does nothing.
- Edit a loadout instead. Set the race to Iksar and save, and the character changes on the spot.
- Gear carries straight over, a full set of Hate armour included, so nothing needs re-equipping after the swap.

Hello and welcome to a Neverquest Legends guide on how to become an Exar. Uh so, we’re going to start with the pre the pre-work, if you will, on how to do this. Now, you’re going to need about uh just under 200 small pieces of high-quality ore, and then about 400 metal bits, right? So, you’re going to need those. Uh Mar Settler here, he sells small bricks of uh high-quality ore for 18 a pop, and then he sells full large bricks. Or yeah. Yeah, he sells large bricks and blocks for varying prices, right? You can uh take those. Uh now, if you didn’t know, I’m in Kelethin, South Kelethin, right here. So, here’s the North Kelethin line. It’s right here, and he is on find. So, be it up, and you uh search for his name. He’s right there under smithing supplies, right? But, right outside of his little hut is a smithing thing. You can come over here, and you can break these down, right? You can break them down into the ores, uh and whatnot. Now, you can also take fine steel. I got one piece of fine steel on me. You can take that, combine it with water, and you’re going to get uh What does that give us? Gives us two bricks of small high-quality ore that we can take the the small bricks with a smithing chisel you buy from a vendor, and then you click those, and it’s going to turn you into uh Now, we have 200 pieces of small ore, all right? Does that make sense? That’s that’s how you get the materials required for this. Now, to actually turn these in, you have to go to North Ro, uh to the Crusaders outside of the Xar Village. So, that’s where we’re going to go right now. I’m bound right there. So, we’re going to gate, but, you know, this right here in Keanos is the place to get the ore. Uh, you can also farm a soul A. I did soul A from level 19 to 28. And I got about 30 pieces, uh, or 30 bricks of ore, right? So, >> [music] >> uh, if you stay there for a while, you could avoid the cost. It cost me 900. Yeah, it was like 900 platinum to buy the 50, uh, missing ore I would I needed, so. Um, now you can get faction with that guy by fighting in Blackburrow for about, I would say, an hour to two, maybe three, depending on your race combo that you’re starting with. But, uh, once you once you have the materials, uh, you’re going to want to turn in, uh, probably about 400 metal bits. Let’s see if I grab 400 of those. To this guy right here, uh, Crusader Ictar. Uh, Ictara, right? So, if we, uh, click this, click on that. Let’s hail him first. Hail him. He says, “Hail yourself, ogre. I’ve met uh, I’ve got multiple ships worth of people to watch over. I could use some supplies. If you’re not here to help, and you’re going to make a mistake of attacking us, do it quickly.” All right. So, supplies. “If you want, uh, to help restore our supplies, you we could use a bit bits of metal, right? In batches of four. So, you have to turn them in batches of four. They aren’t worth a lot, but many of our ships were lost in the storm uh, that landed us here. And we [music] need nails if we’re going to make new ships. Though, if you’ve got better ones we’d be willing to part with, we can talk and then better or A lot of our weapons and armor went overboard in the storm and our stock to repair [music] and outfitting the growing recruits is getting uh slim to say the least. If you would bring me a small pieces or small bricks of high quality or it go a long way >> [music] >> uh to making it help. Right. Now, if you turn in the small bricks, you get 15 faction per brick. But, if he’s turn in the small pieces, you get uh 10 per, right? So, let’s go ahead and give him the 400 of this. Let’s call on him first. Indubious. So, we turn in the 400 here. It’s going to go blah blah blah blah blah blah. It’s going to lag me out for a little bit and then uh he gave me back 160. So, we maxed it out pretty quick. And we’re now [music] amiably with him. Right? So, now we’re going to take the 200 here. I’m going to go ahead and hand that to him since we’re amiable now. [music] Right? We got five faction per for the metal bits. Turn these in. And then uh it’s going to go and go and go. And then there we go. Uh we’re max ally con him. Ally. We’ve unlocked XR and we unlocked uh the expedition faction. Right? So, there we go. Uh now uh can we turn into an XR real quick? And we cannot. Let’s do this. Let’s just switch that to XR. Save. And there we go. It automatically changes. I guess this is a free loadout sound. There we go. Uh and now we are a uh scaly boy. And we’re able to uh explore the world as an XR now. Right? Cost me 900 plat to buy him, but I could have done it for free. I just got impatient. Because I was trying to make the video, right? So, there we go. He looks kind of dapper in his full uh hate armor, but uh definitely >> [music] >> good there. So, if you have any questions or comments, leave them down below, but thank you very much for watching, and please have a fantastic day.
